Making It In Media

Ant & Dec's Making it in Media project with The King’s Trust is a collaborative programme co-designed by Ant and Dec and the youth charity, helping young people to explore some of the many behind-the-scenes roles involved in the industry.

Ant & Dec always had an ambition to help open doors for the younger generation, so they can build a career just like they did, and this course can give a young person that opportunity.

Open to 16-25 year olds who are not currently in work or education, Ant and Dec’s Making it in Media with The King’s Trust is a unique 10 day programme where Media and TV specialists share their insights into what happens behind the scenes across the entertainment industry, and participants learn a broad range of practical skills and insider knowledge through masterclasses on topics such as script writing, camera work, lighting and video editing.

What the young people get out of the course:

  • The opportunity to explore everything that goes into the entertainment industry.
  • Hands-on experience and training.
  • Make their own mini TV package, which is showcased to the group at the celebration event.
  • Meet industry experts who share tips and experiences from their own careers.
  • The chance to learn more about the range of careers available in the industry.

After the two-week course, they are invited to a special Making it in Media Get Hired event. There, they meet more industry experts and can apply and interview for jobs in the media industry.

Here are some former Making it in Media graduates talking through their experience on the course:

If you are a young person looking to take part - or a business in the media and TV industries interested in hiring the next generation of talent, look out for the next course! We’d love to hear from you!
